I'm an independent compliance consultant and the founder of Xelvio, helping companies build practical compliance frameworks, secure web applications, and data protection by design solutions.

Professional background

I spent over 20 years in operational management in regulated businesses, most recently co-founding and exiting a financial services firm where I held FCA-approved Senior Management Functions including SMF16 (Compliance Oversight). I've been through Government audits, GDPR implementation, and the full lifecycle of building and exiting a regulated business.

That operational background shapes how I approach compliance work. Effective compliance frameworks aren't built in isolation from the business — they have to be practical, proportionate, and genuinely embedded in how a firm operates. I understand the pressures that regulated businesses face because I've faced them myself.

Current work

Through Xelvio, I provide compliance oversight, monitoring programme design, policy frameworks, and regulatory technology solutions for regulated firms. I'm currently developing the Xelvio Compliance Platform — a SaaS tool for multi-tenant compliance management.

I also run TalkScore, an automated media analysis platform that applies compliance monitoring principles to broadcast media — recording, transcribing, and scoring live radio broadcasts for factuality, bias, and rhetorical integrity.

Academic

I'm studying for the ICA Postgraduate Diploma in Governance, Risk and Compliance at the University of Manchester, and I'm an Associate Member of the International Compliance Association.

Outside work

Outside of compliance, I write on topics including media accountability, the mechanics of institutional failure, and how compliance frameworks can be applied beyond financial services. I'm also a musician and instrument maker.
